Bland + iMessage

A branded iMessage agent that shares pathways, tools, and memory with your Bland voice and SMS agents, with photos, files, and voice memos built in.

iMessage

What Bland does inside iMessage.

Same agent as your voice line.

Reuse the pathway or persona you already run on calls and SMS. Tools and memory carry over, and the platform behind it is SOC 2 Type II and HIPAA ready.

Your brand, not a random number.

Messages come from a branded contact with your company name and profile image, so customers know who is texting before they open the thread.

Reads what customers send.

A customer can send a receipt photo, a screenshot, a PDF, a spreadsheet, or a voice memo. The agent reads or transcribes it and acts on it in the same conversation.

Sends files and voice memos back.

Agents deliver PDF reports, Excel files, and images produced by a tool call, and can reply with a voice memo when a typed answer would run long.

Native iMessage behavior.

Blue bubbles, tapbacks, text effects, Live Stickers, typing indicators, read receipts, and delivery status, with end-to-end encryption between Apple devices.

Falls back to SMS.

Bland uses iMessage when the recipient supports it and falls back to SMS when not, so one flow reaches every customer.

How it deploys.

  1. Talk to your account executive to provision an iMessage number and branded contact.

  2. Attach the same pathway or persona you use for voice and SMS.

  3. Bland uses iMessage when the recipient supports it and falls back to SMS when not.

  4. Send a test message to confirm branding and rich media.

Our FDE team scopes the integration, maps Bland to your stack, and stays on through go-live. Enterprise deployments go live in 30 days.

Frequently asked questions.

Can a business run an AI agent on iMessage?

Yes. Bland runs a branded iMessage agent on an iMessage-capable number provisioned for your organization. Customers see your company name and logo, and the agent replies with the same pathway or persona as your voice agent. Our FDE team provisions it as part of Bland Enterprise.

What can the iMessage agent send and receive?

High-resolution photos and videos, PDFs and spreadsheets, voice memos, tapbacks, text effects, and Live Stickers, plus typing indicators, read receipts, and delivery status. Incoming files and voice memos are read or transcribed and handled like any other message.

What happens if the customer doesn't have iMessage?

Bland uses iMessage when the recipient supports it and falls back to SMS when it does not. The same pathway runs on both, so Android and non-Apple users get the same conversation without a separate flow.

Does iMessage use a different API from SMS?

No. iMessage shares the Bland Messaging API with SMS, RCS, and WhatsApp. Pass channel set to imessage, or let Bland pick it from the number configuration. Webhook payloads carry a channel field so you can route iMessage events separately.

Is an iMessage conversation with a Bland agent encrypted?

Yes. iMessage conversations stay end-to-end encrypted between Apple devices, like any other iMessage chat. Bland is SOC 2 Type II and HIPAA ready, and conversation data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
